Netflix Squid Game, Popular Halloween Costumes & Homemade Dalgona Candy (Korean Honeycomb Toffee)

This is an official trailer of Squid Game in Netflix. 
Jung-jae Lee, Korean actor who stars as an Ki-Hoon Sung in Squid Game, is showing great acting in the drama.

This time, I prepared a story about Squid Game, a Netflix Korean drama that is currently popular all over the world.

I am very happy that this Squid Game is ranked number 1 in all 90 countries where Netflix is aired. In the U.S, the popularity of the Squid Game is being evaluated as once again reranking the fire of Korean wave beyond the simple interest in drama.

Many people are enthusiastic about the old Korean culture, customs and food that appears in the drama, such as the squid game, the flower of Mgunghwa had bloomed game, the dalgona candy, and the costumes of the characters.

Mugunghwa flower is Hibiscus flower and it is is a Korean national flower.

For reference, in the drama, the game of my childhood memories, Mugunghwa had bloomed game, uses the green and red lights of traffic lights.
In the United States, something similar to this is the statue game.

I was also impressed that the Jimmy Fallon Show, one of America's most popular late-night talk shows, featured four main characters from the Squid Game.


If you look at the video, the moderator Jimmy Fallon said that the Squid Game drama is very scary and cruel, but the content that stimulates the children's hearts through Korean games of young children's memories, and the kind and nice actor Jung-jae Lee playing the villain in the drama is impressive. 
Jimmy also mentioned that it is a very impressive interpretation of the innocent character of Yeog-hee, whom Koreans saw in elementary school books as a child, into a scary and cruel robot, shooting relentlessly whenever game participants are eliminated. 

And if you look at the many comments on YouTube left by drama fans who have gathered from all over the world, there are a lot of statements that actor Jung-jae Lee is so neat and handsome that they couldn't recognize who he was, and that he was so cool.^^

There are many comments that all actors should be carefully protected, and many comments that actress Ho-yeon Jung is so cute and lovely. 

Thanks to the popularity of Squid Game, many costumes of characters in the Squid Game are very trendy for the Halloween costumes.

Actually, many Korean men wear this outfit comfortably at home on a daily basis.

This time, let's take a look at the Korean traditional sweet dalgona, which is gaining popularity along with the drama.

The dalgona I remember when I was a child was by far the most popular among the many foods sold near the main gate of the elementary school. Mostly retired seniors took a seat in a corner with a small briquette furnace, made dalgona, and always greeted us warmly.


Not only did we buy delicious candy, but we could also get a new candy for free if we broke out the shape correctly on the candy with our hands or a toothpick.

After school, before going home, my friends and I usually stop by the street vendor of dalgona. We concentrated carefully like when we were taking a school exam to get the shape of a dalgona, and the joy I felt when I succeeded was beyond words.
Not only the joy of receiving a new dalgona after success, but the disappointment when it failed. The leftover candy I ate still pleased me a lot. It was the power of sweet and yummy dalgona candy in result.

Dalgona is not just a Korean candy, it is our childhood memories and beautiful recollections with friends from the old days.

Now then, do you want to learn how to make a dalgona candy?
Dalgna candy is basically made with sugar and baking soda. 
We didn't buy a special dalgona kit, we  just used the ingredients and kitchen utensils we had at home so the shape is not pretty, but the taste was really good. ^^

Homemade Dalgona Recipe;


1. Start by adding sugar to the pan and place on medium to low heat. 



2. Stir it slowly on the pan until the sugar is completely dissolved, and then add just a bit of baking soda. 



3. Pour the mixture onto a metal tray. 



4. Use a spatula to spread the liquid evenly. 

5. Place the cookie cutter and shape it, then let it cool completely.

We also tried brown sugar to make a dalgona candy. 
I heard that the brown sugar used in Korea works well. However, brown sugar in the U.S is strangely out of shape and is broken like the one below. I intentionally adjusted the screen a lot in case it would be a little uncomfortable to see.^^




In addition to this, this Squid Game is becoming a hot topic in many places.
It's very happy and heartwarming news, so I wanted to share this joy with you all from the world.^^ I am going to watch Squid Game on Netflix one more time after my work tonight.^^ How much did you enjoy Squid Game?

 Denali National Park After a great week spent in Anchorage, we travelled to Denali by coach, a 230 miles journey. Along the highway we could see the changes in the nature around us. The arrival to the park was grandiose. You do not realize how large it is until you see it. Denali mountain is the highest in North America, reaching 20.000 feet and the park has 5 million acres.   COLORADO TRIP Some of our family members decided to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park and I was delighted. We started out by visiting Denver. First, we went to the Museum of Nature and Science (started in 1900). You discover the Rocky Mountain Region with its plants, animals, gems, and minerals. Here are travel tips  about Korea Town in Duluth, GA .  It is one of small malls in Korea Town in GA Korea Town is one of my favorite places, so we visit there once every few months.  Korea Town in GA is about a four-hour drive south of where I live. As you can see on the map below, Tennessee & Georgia are adjacent states.
