U-Pick Fruit Farms, Farmer's Market, and An Apple Farm in Knoxville Area, TN

Now that the weather is quite cool in the morning and evening, it really feels like autumn has arrived. I personally love the fall season the most for many reasons.

First of all, fall is the season of the harvest, and beautifully multi-colored mountains and trees, and cabins on the hills draw especially more tourists to Tennessee.

Knoxville, Tennessee, where I live, is mainly famous for its beautiful mountains and hiking trails. Especially in fall, there are many fruit farms in Tennessee where we can pick and buy fruit on our own, called Pick You Own.

Some farms grow all types of fruits in different batches together and each fruit is open for PYO when available seasonally. Berries like strawberry, blackberry, and raspberry are usually available in summer and for apples the best season is fall.

Some farms also grow their own vegetables, so if you are lucky, you can even buy fresh vegetables.

Below is a list of fruit farms in the Knoxville area. A few farms with a long history in our area were  permanently closed within the past few years.

Each farm has different business hours and guidelines. Most farms commonly don’t take credit cards as payment, so it is better to bring cash or a check. In addition, since it is the Covid -19 period, each farm may require special regulations or masks in their farms.

You are highly recommended to call each farm for their updated hours, direction, and special instructions before you head out to the farm.

This year around March, the weather in Knoxville was colder than usual and there was a lot of frost, so a lot of fruits were frozen. So unfortunately, this year it was difficult to find a farm nearby where you can pick your own apples.

Instead of PYO, I especially want to recommend an apple farm where our family loves to go regularly and a must go place if you want to feel the charm of a southern style - farmer’s market in an outstanding foothills nature.

Carver's Applehouse Restaurant & Orchard

Address: 3462 Cosby Hwy, Cosby, TN 37722

Phone: 423-487-2419

This farm does not offer PYO, but has a restaurant, candy shop, and a farmer’s market selling their own farm-grown apples and vegetables.

This is the way to the entrance of the apple farm. The scenery is so spectacular, isn’t it? ^^

The line at the restaurant was so long that we were finally able to get a table after an hour had passed. 😔

The scenery is very nice, but it was a pity that I couldn’t enjoy the scenery with black blinds in the restaurant.

All food is made here using ingredients grown directly from the farm, so everything on the menu at this restaurant is fresh and delicious.

The menus below are common in the southern United States.

Chicken Pot pie, shaped like a pie, is an oven-baked dish with chicken, vegetables and other seasonings and flour in a crust. It’s sweet and savory.

Fried apple is a side dish made with apples by adding sugar, cinnamon powder, and vanilla syrup. It’s so sweet and delicious. ^^

Barbecue in the Southern United States is a traditional American food and is famous in the United States for its good taste. After a late lunch, we finally went to the farmer’s market.

Looking at the pumpkins at the entrance of the market, it really feels like autumn has come. ^^

It’s nice to see the scarecrow here, too. ^^

Winesap is one of countless apple varieties.

(For non-American readers) An apple butter has a thicker flavor than jam. It is made by adding more kinds of ingredients such as cinnamon powder.

Below are the different types of apples in the farmer’s market. It must be so delicious, right? ^^

This is the room where canned food is kept. There were many kinds of pickles and BBQ sauce.

Tomatoes grown on the farm also look fresh.

Below is a video showing the entrance and interior of the farmer’s market briefly.

This is a 26 second video with 15-second music. 😀

This time I came to the traditional candy shop next to the farmer’s shop.

The entrance to the store is just an ordinary looking building.

They keep candies in old style wooden barrels above.

Peanut Brittle- A type of candy with nuts.

Different types of candies.

The kids loved this store. Actually, my husband and I were also so excited. ^^

Before heading home, we sampled the chocolate covered cherry we bought at the store in the car.

Fortunately, there was no stone inside the cherry. 😁

Below is a video where you can see the inside of the candy store and the chocolates on display. This is a full 30-second video with 15 seconds of Twice’s (Korean girl group singers) candy song. 😀

Below is a video of our family from arriving at the farm, visiting restaurants, candy stores, and farmer’s markets, and before tasting the food they bought from the farm the next day. Calm country music and upbeat music went in together.

I hope you all enjoy this video. 😊

Knoxville, Tennessee is near the beautiful Smokey Mountains, and hiking trails, so I highly recommend visiting in the fall among other seasons.

Don’t forget to visit the apple farm, which is in season, especially in the fall.

Please leave your comments and share your own experience of fruit farms in Knoxville area, TN. 😉
